Melamchi, Sept 28: Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun today said the state must accelerate the process of reconstruction of earthquake-damaged school buildings.
Laying the foundation stone for a school building at Bahunpati of Melamchi Municipality – 8 in Sindhupalchowk district, VP Pun said it was unfortunate that the school buildings were still not being rebuilt 15 months after the massive earthquake.
He stressed on expediting the reconstruction of the school buildings citing schools as the first foundation for the country's development. The VP Pun also inspected the flagship Melamchi drinking water tunnel.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal had earlier inspected the tunnel while issuing instruction for its completion by the first month of the Nepali calendar year 2074 BS.
The school at Bahunpati is being reconstructed with support from INGO Education First (EF) and Nepali NGO Safa Nepal, Principal Bishnu Gautam said.
