Rolpa, Sept 29: The community schools in Rolpa district are reeling under the shortage of school teachers. Some 400 teachers are required as per the number of students in 700 schools in the district.
There are only 1,334 teachers working at present while the total number of students stands at 83,993.
As per the ideal teacher-student ratio prescribed by the Ministry of Education, there's long been a disproportionate ratio between teacher-student in the schools here, said District Education Officer (DEO), Chiranjivi Poudel.
Bhim Prakash Pun, Chairperson of Nepal Teachers' Association, Rolpa Chapter, drew the attention of the concerned authority to increase teacher quota for meeting the ideal teacher-student ration which he argued would eventually help enhance the education quality.
Since many of the teachers were being paid through internal sources, Pun also demanded the creation of adequate quota at the earliest.
