Kathmandu, Sept 5: The Madhya Paschimanchal University (MPU) has decorated litterateur Jhamak Ghimire with honorary doctorate degree.
During a convocation ceremony the MPU held here Monday, President Bidya Devi Bhandari said, "Litterateur Ghimire is a literary person of unrivalled talent. Despite suffering physical weakness, she has contributed significantly to Nepali literary firmament. She is the most inspiring figure for all us off."
Similarly, President Bhandari suggested the university that it focused on technical, skill-oriented, and research-based education which could best exploit the country's resources.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal hailed the contribution of litterateur Ghimire, saying she vividly depict lives, experiences and social reality in her books. Her writings have added new dimension to Nepali literature, said PM Dahal who is also Chancellor of the MPU.
He suggested the university that it concentrated in the production of globally competitive human resource.

A speech written by writer Ghimire was read out during the function. "I've no certificate even of grade one. I read stone, mud, and entire Nepali's heart. I'm feeling I, who had read the open sky and earth, have done something good for the country."
Education Minister Dhaniram Poudel said it was a good opportunity that the MPU conferred the honour on litterateur Ghimire.
The honorary doctorate degree to Ghimire is the honour of her zeal and creativity, said Vice-Chancellor of the MPU, Professor Dr Upendra Kumar Koirala.
