Kathmandu, Aug 22: Nepal is celebrating the ninth Library Day under the theme of 'library for lifelong education'.
A main celebration committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Education Secretary Dr Dilliram Rimal to make arrangements for observing the Day on coming August 31.
The Ministry has already issued a circular to celebrate the Day at district-level as well, Ministry's Under Secretary Upendra Prasad Mainali said. The celebration of the Library Day would help promote the culture of reading among the people, he added.
The records put the number of private and community-run library at 36,000. Likewise, there are 1,600 libraries in various universities and their constituent colleges, one thousand public and 1,000 libraries run by different organisations.
