Health Ministry forwards action plan to establish medical college in seven provinces

Kathmandu, Sept 13: The Health Ministry has forwarded an action plan for the establishment of medical college in all seven provinces. The ministry has forwarded feasibility study as well as other works for the same.

The Ministry shared this during the meeting held among Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Health Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa, Education Minister Dhaniram Poudel and members of Mathema Commission at Baluwatar today.

Prime Minister Dahal while addressing the Legislature-Parliament on September 8 had informed that at least one medical college would be established in all provinces.

During the meeting, PM Dahal was briefed about the action plan prepared by the ministry to bring the PM's address into implementation immediately, said Minister Thapa's advisor, Pratap Poudel.

The meeting also discussed about the agreement signed between Dr Govinda KC and government for breaking the eighth hunger strike staged by Dr KC.

Similarly, the meeting also discussed regarding requesting the Legislature-Parliament to forward the medical education bill, which is now under consideration at the Parliament, immediately, taking initiatives to address the demands put forth by Dr KC through amendment of the proposed bill, forwarding process to appoint dean at TU Institute of Medicine immediately and not giving affiliation to new medical college until Parliament passes the bill related to medical education.

It was shared that the proposed bill is to be tabled in the Legislature -Parliament meeting scheduled on September 14, added advisor Poudel.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Dahal directed to resolve the problem surfaced n education and health sectors as well as to fulfill the agreement signed between Dr KC and government.
