Kathmandu, Sept 17: In a bid to manage temporary school teachers, the Department of Education (DoE) has asked them to fill out a form mentioning their details as per the Education Bill (eighth amendment) by September 26.
The Bill has provided temporary teachers with two options—either to get permanent status through internal competition or take the golden handshake on the basis of the years of teaching.
Under the handshake scheme, those teaching on a temporary basis for five to ten years will be granted money equivalent to half-month salary per year while teachers with ten to fifteen years of work experiences will be entitled to one month's salary per year.
Likewise, teachers working in a school on temporary status with more than 15 years of work experiences will be provided with one-and-a-half month salary per year.
The DoE has directed all five Regional Education Directorates to collect and submit the filled up forms by October 16, said Director General at the DoE Baburam Poudel, adding that those opting for internal competition can collect the form from respective District Education Office.
