Kathmandu, Sept 19: The government has established a 'Bio-Diversity Educational Garden' at Godavari in Lalitpur on the occasion of 200 years of establishment of Nepal-UK diplomatic relations.
The garden, established by the Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation with technical support of UK, would be formally inaugurated on September 22.
Minister for Forests and Soil Conservation, Shankar Bhandari, on Monday carried out an inspection of the garden as well as suggested and directed the concerned employees. The garden was established in the premises of Godabari-based National Botanical Garden.
Director General of the Department of Plants Resources, Rajdev Prasad Yadav, told RSS that different types of plants found in Himalayan, Hilly and Tarai regions have been planted in the Garden. The garden covers an area of 1.3 hectares and it expected to be useful to the students studying botanical science as well as for other research students.
Yadav said that number of tourists visiting Godavari area would also increase, as a result of the Educational Garden.
