GEMS School of Lalitpur has bagged shield, flag and Rs 200,000 cash prize under the category of private schools. Kalyan Bidhya Mandir Biratnagar from eastern region, Little Angels Secondary School of Laltipur from the central region, Motherland Secondary School of Kaski from western region, Tulasi Secondary School of Dang from mid-western region and International Public School of Kanchanpur from mid-western region have bagged shield, flag and Rs 100000 cash prize as the private schools in the region.
Likewise, the community and private colleges that were awarded with Rs 200,000 and letters of certificate each include the constituent campus- Mahendra Ratna Multiple Campus of Ilam, TU affiliated community Janapriya Multiple Campus, Kaski and TU affiliated private College of Bio Medical Engineering, Kathmandu.
During the award handover programme, Minister for Education Dhaniram Poudel stressed the need for bringing new education programmes based on skills, science and spirit of nationality.
Stating that the Education Act was amended (eighth amendment) recently and expressing belief that the amendment would help resolve problems in education, he informed that the Ministry was working to formulate Education Regulations.
As part of the campaign to eliminate illiteracy from the country by 2017, he said, 29 out of 75 districts have already been declared literate. Remaining districts would be declared literate within the running fiscal year.
