32,000 children in Mahottari out of school

Gaushala (Mahottari), July 14: Despite various programmes being launched to bringing all the children of the school-going age into formal education, around 32,000 children from Mahottari district are still out of school, according to a study conducted by the Society Development Centre, Mahottari with the support of the Nepal World Education. 

However, District Education Officer Thulo Babu Dahal said that the figure may go up as the exact number of children out of school is not ascertained since the district has over 300 unregistered schools and madrasas running. 

Of the children out of school mostly from Muslim, Dalit and marginalised communities, around 60 percent constitute girls, the study shows.
